How to Help

Since Generacion Barranca 2006 INC first met in July of 2006 and as of January 2009 this group of citizens have raised funds for a copy machine and five new computers for the school, planted trees, and have donated a concrete mixer for the community. The current project is paving the road. There are 27 active members who attend monthly meetings. The hopes and dreams for this organization are rooted in the people who are from this town. They are making a difference for the people of Oaxaca and hope to inspire others to do the same.

During the meetings, many ideas are formed to help grow the economy of this town. Their dream is to one day use much of the fertile land for agriculture and to build a factory which would create jobs. An orchard of tropical fruits such as guavas or pomegranates could easily be grown and produced in this area.

The ultimate dream for GB 2006 is to see the future generations become educated and become doctors, business owners, lawyers, and other professionals. GB 2006 wants to support the schools, which will help these students receive a better education so they may have a better future.

Working together with other Organizations:

Generacion Barranca 2006 Inc. is working together with other organizations who also share the vision of helping the people of this small village. New Beginnings Christian Center raised funds in Christmas 2007 to purchace 70 Bikes for the students of Barranca. These bikes make a huge difference for these children who have to walk long distances to get to school.

Generacion Barranca is also working together with a Sister School Project through Achieve CDC, a non-profit organization. Through the sister school project, the school recieved much needed school supplies from The International School in Portland Oregon. The sister school project hopes to establish a relationship between these two schools through writing letters.
